CrowdSPRING: You Are Only 153 Emotions Away From The Winner

My second day's work on picking a logo for my new startup. It's been a emotional insanity of ups and downs. As I mentioned in my last post "Getting A Startup Logo From CrowdSPRING" I went in knowing nothing about the company, and not knowing how to use the site. I messed up all over the place. I missed seeing notes from the artist often, didn't know if my focus group was private or public, and scored the entries incorrectly.

I Was Only 153 Emotions Away From Picking The Winner

I love the idea of this site, but I found many unexpected emotions to overwhelm me. I had a total of 154 entries, unexpectedly, one of my top nine picks was removed by CrowdSPRING as this person supposedly had stolen the art from another person and was claiming it to be theirs. That made me sad. Sad someone would do that, and sad, cause I liked the stolen art!

Picking a winning logo has not been easy. It wasn't easy for my first startup. The hardest thing is narrowing it down. So I asked just a few friends and family this time, as if you ask a million people, you will be amazed that you will get back a million different answers. There is no way to please everyone, and everyone see's something in the art that relates a positive or negative message in their brain.

Hashing it out with some of them as to why they didn't like my picks and why they liked the ones they picked, still drove my emotional road to choosing in the same tormenting direction. Not knowing which one would represent the company and which ones were just distractions from the one.

The List Of Possible Winners Changed A Bunch Of Times

From the time I started sorting out what I thought was the best, to the final entries, it was amazing to me, to see that some of the ones I dearly loved for the longest of time, slowly got booted out, for one reason or another. It wasn't that I didn't love the art, it was that it wasn't the right one for this project. My heart was broken every time I had to say goodbye to the one I thought would be the winner. How I wish all those artist that won't be picked as the winner know, I loved them too.

I Turned To WhisperApp

Okay a few friends and family led me down the path to narrowing but still I had so many entries, so I decided it was time to see what a million people really thought. I posted the top three entries on Whisper. Again I was surprised by the outcome. It wasn't what I expected at all. Still the winner of the Whisper app post is not going to be the winner for my startup logo, for many reasons.

Whisper gave me what I was looking for. I found two people whom I could totally trust on WhipserApp. Their opinion of, as to what logo should I pick was solid and stood it's ground more then any of the answers my friends and family gave me. These people told me WHY. Why pick that one? And WHY NOT pick the other ones. I love Whisper as those who read this blog know. It's a very useful site, and it's not just a bunch of thirsty people. It can be used for so many uses. If you don't have WhisperApp on your cell, get it. I needed these answers and Whisper gave it to me. There is nothing worth more to me then finding the sweet spot of decision. These two people helped me get there.

The Final Pick

Hoping to pick the winner of my logo campaign on CrowdSPRING tonight. Unless something undercuts yet another "who I thought the winner was" and I'll be back to posting, searching, reading, categorizing, circling, striking through, adding stars, agonizing, thinking, pacing, tormenting of my souls choice.
